In reply to Elaine F French. Hi Elaine! Congrats on finishing your screenplay! It's definitely an accomplishment no one can take away from you. :) In my opinion, you can self publish anything...including screenplays. I have several books of scripts from favorite films of mine, so I say go for it!

When I finished my screenplay back in 2001 there was definitely a feeling of – wow it’s finished, it’s there, no one can say you didn’t do that. Back then of course we couldn’t self-publish and I have wondered recently whether I should publish it – but do people ‘publish’ screen plays?? Just a thought….

In reply to Amie McGraham. Hi Amie! So glad I could motivate you to keep on writing. :) Believe me, I hear you on the subject of feeling overwhelmed by your creative project. I tend to look waaaay too much at the big picture instead of just doing the best I can for myself, and whoever is meant to connect with my work (whether it's 2 people or 200,000). If you stay true to the words that want to come out of you, I know you'll reach more people than you'd ever dream possible. :)

Sometimes I become overwhelmed by my writing project. Other times I get to the place where I tell myself that just finally finishing my story is the reward even if it goes no further. Writing for me and just one other person is a new approach. Thank you for the motivation!

Hi Mary–great post. I completely agree. I have several author “crushes”–those authors who are a further ahead in the game than I am and it’s so easy to point to where they are without remembering that they were once where I am! I felt that ache too, and finally decided to do something about tit. So this year I am publishing my first book and its so exciting! Good on you for getting your book out into the world–I’ve read it and really enjoyed it. And I have no doubt that it won’t be your last!
